Re-Elect

Chris
Silhavey

Zoning Commissioner

7th and 8th Districts

Zoning Commission Chairman

Dear Neighbor,

It has been a great honor to have represented the 7th and 8th Districts on the Zoning Commission for the last three years.

The last two years have been very exciting for all of us who believe that expanding our economic development and protecting our neighborhoods are the two keys to making Stratford a great town to live and do business in.

I continue to strongly endorse applications that have brought new businesses into Stratford Center, Paradise Green, the Dock, and the Hawley Lane corridor.  In our neighborhood, I led the Commission through the very difficult “re-hearing” of the Avalon Bay application.  As chairman, I made sure that the hearing was held as fairly as possible.  In the end, the Commission issued a decision that based on the evidence, the plan presented a substantial threat to public health and safety and could not be approved.  This decision has now been upheld by the Connecticut Superior Court.

While the Stratford Army Engine plant redevelopment moves along slower than any of us would like, I introduced and passed legislation the closed a loophole in our regulations that would let the property be redeveloped without Zoning approval.  With this change, Stratford residents, through their elected land use commissioners will have a say over what becomes of our greatest economic development opportunity.

I very respectfully ask for your vote this November.

Thank you.

Chris Silhavey
