"I believe that the Stratford education system, like education systems across the country, faces a challenging future in light of budget cuts and the requirements of No Child Left Behind legislation. I am supportive of the efforts of the Stratford school system’s administration and current Board of Education members to present a realistic/transparent budget that ensures the best education possible for Stratford students.
Goals for the system need to include providing the opportunity for every student to achieve his/her highest academic potential through a responsibly funded education budget; pursuing alternatives sources of additional funding for the system through grants and other resources; continuing to grow the careers pathway programs at the high school levels; working to give Stratford’s student a more global view through continuing to enhance the curriculum to reflect changing technologies and providing opportunities to learn foreign languages; and ensuring that the district continues to meet the requirements set by No Child Left Behind legislation."
