Dear Neighbor,
In 1991, I decided that our Town
needed new leadership and direction.
So, I sought a seat on the Town Council.
The people of the then 8th
District honored me with their vote, and I had the privilege of serving my
friends and neighbors for 4 years.
When I left the Town Council, I believe I had left our town in better
shape. We had a plan to fully fund
our pension obligations, and we put in place fiscal oversight procedures
to ensure our tax dollars were being used wisely and efficiently.
Over the past few years, I have
again seen a lack of leadership and a lack of direction in Stratford.
We have seen long-time, valuable
town employees told to leave town employment. Our taxes have gone up,
while the delivery of town services has fallen. The Mayor proposed cutting
$1 million from the school budget, while hiring friends and family members
of friends onto the town payroll. Senior citizens are paying more and
getting less. No one in Stratford is safe from the government’s hand in
our pockets.
I also feel that
we must protect our neighborhoods from large scale development. I am
absolutely opposed to AvalonBay's plan to
build
condominiums on the former Colonial Caterers property. Further, I
oppose similar types of development in the 9th District or anywhere
in Stratford.
As a father of 2
children and the son of 2 Stratford senior citizens, I am deeply concerned
about the future of Stratford.
Once again, I see that our Town
needs new leadership and direction. So, I have decided to seek a seat on
the Town Council to help create
a Stratford that we can ALL be proud to call home.
